Doncic listed day-to-day with severely strained patience

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has been listed as day-to-day with severely strained patience following his recent ejection from the Mavericks' matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves at the end of the 3rd quarter. “While there was an obvious acute aggravation in this particular instance, we’ve been monitoring Luka’s patience carefully as the chronic stressors have mounted,” said Casey Wood, the Mavericks Director of Player Health and Performance. “Jason Kidd’s unimaginative playcalls, Christian Wood’s defensive rotations, the seasonal Dwight Powell hope/disillusionment cycle - we were aware that these were eventually going to bubble to the surface.” Wood admitted that, in hindsight, Doncic had been showing all the early warning signs of strained patience, particularly the textbook shoulder slumps that typically foreshadow the condition, although he insisted that there was a strong management plan in place. “We’ve been reassured by the promising returns on the experimental Josh Green treatment after we tweaked the formula to include layups and standstill jumpers; we’re also utilizing some of the more traditional treatments - most teams have wound down their use of Kemba Walker but we’re finding that there’s still potential upside to be eked out there.” Despite Wood’s upbeat approach, sources around the league remain skeptical that Doncic’s condition can be treated without major offseason roster surgery.
